Belfield is an area of Bankstown, New South Wales, Australia. The suburb is located in the Inner West and Inner West Council local government area. It was originally a rural hamlet on the Parramatta Road but it has now been swallowed up by urban development and is home to many families with children. Belfield is close to many key landmarks in Sydney, such as Prince Alfred Park in Surry Hills (just over two kilometres) or Leichhardt Oval (less than one kilometre). The suburb also has access to a major railway station on the Inner West Line.

Lots of Parks & Playgrounds

There are plenty of parks with playgrounds for children around Belfield – Parramatta Rd Reserve next door to St. John Bosco Catholic Primary school; Aitken Street Reserve near Doggett Street; and Wollstonecraft Parade Reserve opposite Crofton Hall public school.

Lots of Places to Eat & Drink

Belfield has many restaurants and cafes. There are places like Il Fornaio, which is a great place for coffee or lunch; Little Toe Café – great brunch spot with lovely outdoor seating; and La Madre pizza restaurant on Parramatta Road that serves up crispy pizzas from the wood oven.

Plenty of Shopping Areas

Belfield is close to many shopping centres, like Westfield Burwood – which has Woolworths and a David Jones department store. There are also plenty of smaller shops scattered throughout the suburb – for example on Parramatta Road there is an IGA supermarket, hairdresser, pharmacy and more!

Lots of Community Events

The area hosts various community events such as arts fairs or markets; these bring lots of people together from all backgrounds so it’s really great way to get involved in this beautiful part of Sydney.

The community spirit is strong in Belfield. There are so many local groups that keep the area going, such as Friends of Parramatta Road Reserve or The Neighbourhood Watch Association of Bankstown (NHWA).
