Homebush is a suburb in Sydney, NSW. It’s located about 17 kilometers from the Central Business District and has an area of 5.2 square kilometres. Homebush is also known as “Home of the Olympics” because it was on this site that the 2000 Olympic Games were held! Homebush War Memorial Garden and Cenotaph
This memorial is located in the Homebush Bay Park, right at the entrance to Sydney Olympic Park. It commemorates those who died during times of war with a cross made up out of sandstone from battlefields around France and Belgium, as well as plaques that commemorate fallen Australian soldiers. The garden also includes an ANZAC Day Monument, which was designed by sculptor Rayner Hoff in 1922 – it has two bronze statues on top representing Freedom and Victory respectively.
Homebush Bay Drive and Walk
This is a paved walkway that takes you on an easy stroll around the bay, with several benches for those who want to stop and enjoy the view. You’ll also find some interesting sculptures along the way!
The Olympic Flame Memorial Park
This park commemorates all Australian Olympians in one location.
