History:

Centennial Park was originally the site of a municipal water reservoir that served Sydney’s rapidly growing population in the early years of the twentieth century. The park is named for Australia’s sesquicentenary, or 150th anniversary, which took place in 1988 and celebrated both Australian Federation as well as New South Wales’ centenary year.

What You’ll Find There Today: It has everything from open spaces to gardens and sporting fields. Open green space provides an excellent venue for relaxation or other leisure activities like jogging or playing sport. Sporting fields offer opportunities to watch cricket practise on weekends, play soccer at lunchtime with friends, compete against locals at table tennis tournaments during evenings and train with Australian Rules Football through winter months (weather permitting).

Get There: Located in Sydney’s inner west, it is easily accessible by public transit with the Westfield Shopping Centre a short walk away. You can also drive to Centennial Park via Concord Road and Parramatta Road but parking is limited.

Both buses and trains stop at Central Station on nearby Elizabeth Street where you’ll find connections for suburban train lines as well as ferries from Circular Quay or Manly Wharf – take your pick! If driving, look out for signs leading to the Royal Botanic Gardens Carpark off of Anzac Parade.

Where To Go For Events: Event venues are often situated around sporting fields so be sure to check what’s happening when before heading over there if that’s why you’re visiting. The most popular Centennial Park event is the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show, which attracts nearly a million people and takes place at the end of March.

Is it a great place to live?

Yes, it is. Centennial Park also has a number of beautiful apartment buildings nearby which offer convenient city living in Sydney’s inner west suburbs – just moments from the CBD!

while living here, you’ll enjoy the perks of urban life without having to give up any of that green space we spoke about before either since this suburb is surrounded by lush greenery perfect for those afternoons when you want to get away from it all.

The other thing that makes Centennial Park such a great place to live is its affordable housing market – so if your finances are limited, don’t worry! You’ll be able to find the perfect home for you and your family without having to spend too much money on rent or mortgage repayments.
