Prince Alfred Park is a public park in Surry Hills, NSW. The park was originally called “Sydney Common” and was renamed to honour Prince Albert, Duke of Edinburgh who visited Sydney in 1868. The land for the original park had been leased from the Crown since 1810 and it served as an important place for walking, recreation, and sporting events during the early colonial period.
The Prince Alfred Park is the best place for a Sunday stroll or an after-work jog. The park is really big and has lots of different paths to suit all fitness levels, plus there are plenty of trees for shade on hot days. There’s also a great playground with facilities for disabled children if you’re bringing the little ones!
Just outside the park entrance on Darlinghurst Road, there’s Sydney Tower Eye which offers breathtaking views over one of Australia’s most iconic cities from its revolving top deck – perfect for capturing photos that will make your friends back home green with envy!
Parking – There is no parking available on-site, but you can find some pretty cheap car parking in the surrounding streets.
