The War Memorial Fountain in Hurstville is a beautiful monument to the soldiers who fought and died for their country. The fountain was built in 1956 and has been an important fixture of this small town’s history ever since. It is surrounded by trees, benches, a playground, and even tennis courts for those looking for recreation after visiting the memorial.

This fountain was created to commemorate the past, and honour those who have fallen. It is a place where people can go to reflect on their loved ones in peace without any distractions from the outside world. The memorial also includes names of soldiers and civilian casualties from World War II. This fountain is a very important part of Hurstville’s history because it pays tribute to all members of society that played some role during this time period.

It is a place of remembrance for many people. The entire town got together to commemorate the soldiers who had died in World War II by collecting money and building this fountain as a memorial. They worked diligently until they raised $200,000 dollars which was equivalent to about US$12 million when adjusted for inflation today. It took two years to build because there were no machinery or volunteers available at that time so everything had to be done manually with hammers and shovels instead!

The day it was finally built became an enormous celebration where around 3000 residents came out on their lawns with music playing and flags waving high over their heads. There’s evidence that the Fountain has been vandalized twice, but both times Hurstville rallied and came together to repair it.

This fountain is a reminder of the past, but also looks towards the future as well. It’s an important part of this small town that people come from far and wide to see what life was like here over 60 years ago. War Memorial Fountain should be included in any tourist guide for Hurstville because it’s one of their most iconic symbols!

This simple monument has captured many memories over its lifetime, as well as instilling hope for future generations.

The names engraved into stone surrounding the base will never be forgotten by anyone who visits here; they are etched there forever reminding us what these brave individuals fought for- freedom!

Everytime you visit this memorial, you’ll see a different story. There are so many things to do and learn here that people come back again and again just for the history it holds. The fountain is located in Hurstville which is about 25 minutes from Sydney CBD by car or bus!
