Kingsford – A Wealthy yet Quiet Neighborhood

Kingsford is a Neighbourhood of Randiwick, NSW that is well known for its wealth. It has been ranked one of the most expensive places to live in Australia, but despite being quiet and hidden away from the city centre, it’s still a great place to visit.

Kingsford was originally named after Alfred James King who founded Kingsford Smith Ltd which would eventually become Australian Consolidated Industries (ACI). The company became famous for manufacturing steel tanks and towers as well as munitions during World War 2. It was later renamed Australian Atlas Steel in 1968 and is still running today.

Kingsford has a number of historical buildings, some dating back from the early 1920s that have been saved and now form part of Kingsford’s Heritage Zone. According to locals, it was once one of Sydney’s most prestigious suburbs for people living on the North Shore before they were forced out by gentrification.

In 2017, Randwick Council proposed plans which included building 16 residential blocks with up to four-storeys each around Bicentennial Park but following community opposition this idea was withdrawn due to lack of support. A new library will be opening soon though where residents can go read their favourite books or use the internet as well as study mezzanines and a cafe.

Residents of Kingsford, Randwick can enjoy warm summers thanks to the sea breezes which are cooled by the harbour waters as well as being close to many cafes and restaurants including one that was voted Sydney’s best. The only downside is that it seems like there isn’t much happening in terms of social events or activities but this might be because people keep them secret!

An interesting thing about Kingsford, NSW is its hidden nature despite all the wealth around it – so make sure you don’t miss out if you’re ever nearby for an evening walk or trip to Bicentennial Park. You never know what will happen while enjoying your surroundings! It’ll surprise even the most jaded locals with new things to do.

In the past few years, Randwick has been working on a number of initiatives to improve and take care of Kingsford’s heritage including restoring houses with historical significance. There are also plans for new residential blocks in places where they’re needed without taking away from its history or identity as one of Sydney’s more affluent suburbs.

Residents can enjoy warm summers thanks to sea breezes which come off the Harbour waters while being close to many cafes and restaurants – it doesn’t seem like there is much happening though when it comes to social events or activities but people might just be keeping them secret!
