Homebush is a suburb in Sydney, NSW. It’s located about 17 kilometers from the Central Business District and has an area of 5.2 square kilometres. Homebush is also known as “Home of the Olympics” because it was on this site that the 2000 Olympic Games were held! The suburb has a population density of 881 people per square kilometer, with over 20% of residents being children under 18 years old. There are a number of attractions to keep you busy when visiting Homebush:

Stawell Oval

This is a great place to watch a game of cricket, soccer or rugby. It is in close proximity to the Sydney Olympic Park and has a number of facilities that are available for hire including BBQs, picnic areas and playground equipment.

The Homebush Heritage Trail

This heritage trail takes walkers through historic places from pre-European settlement days right up until 2000 when it was used during the Olympics Games. There are walking tours that last between 30 minutes to two hours so there’s something suitable for every level of experience.

Homebush War Memorial Garden and Cenotaph

This memorial is located in the Homebush Bay Park, right at the entrance to Sydney Olympic Park. It commemorates those who died during times of war with a cross made up out of sandstone from battlefields around France and Belgium, as well as plaques that commemorate fallen Australian soldiers. The garden also includes an ANZAC Day Monument, which was designed by sculptor Rayner Hoff in 1922 – it has two bronze statues on top representing Freedom and Victory respectively.

Homebush Bay Drive and Walk

This is a paved walkway that takes you on an easy stroll around the bay, with several benches for those who want to stop and enjoy the view. You’ll also find some interesting sculptures along the way!

The Olympic Flame Memorial Park

This park commemorates all Australian Olympians in one location. It’s not far from Sydney Olympic Park so it would be worth your while to visit both places if you’re interested in seeing where Australia hosted its first Olympics games back in 2000! The memorial contains 21 bronze statues of notable sportspeople holding items they used during their careers as well as plaques honouring hundreds of other athletes who.
