The Town’s History

From its humble beginnings as a small settlement back in 1892 by some newlywed farmers named John and Louise Kenton who were trying their hand at sugar cane farming without any luck; now there are over 100 individuals that call this place home. The town is a rich history of fishing, farming, and coal mining with colourful characters that make up the community to this day!
