The Crete Reserve is a piece of property in Rosebery area. The land was originally used for farming and sheep grazing before it was transformed into the beautiful natural reserve that we know today. In 1987, the property was purchased by Nature Conservation Trust to create wildlife habitat and bird sanctuary. Today, this area attracts locals from all around Sydney as well as international tourists visiting Australia.

This land is home to some of the most endangered species in Australia, including a colony of koalas. There are also over 400 different bird species that call this place their home. Visitors can go on guided tours through the property or spend time exploring themselves using one of two walking tracks provided by Nature Conservation Trust.

There are lots of amenities on-site including:

  • Accessible parking spaces
  • Accessible ablutions and picnic facilities in the main carpark
  • Strawberry creek track with viewing platforms (200m)
  • Tree top walkway – 500 metres of elevated boardwalk that meanders through a variety of habitats, including wet forest, dry forest, and open woodland. The treetops are home to spectacular birds as well as wildlife such as possums, wallabies, koalas, and platypuses. There is also an Aboriginal art gallery on site.

The Crete reserve has so many beautiful things for all visitors to enjoy! It’s the perfect place for any age group or anyone who wants to learn more about nature while still being able to escape from city life at times too!
