Here are things worth doing on a weekend in Smithfield Park!
- Take a walk around the pond to see all the different types of birds and other wildlife. This is a great way to learn more about the different animals that live in Smithfield Park.
- Pick up some fresh produce from one of the many stands at Smithfields Farmers Markets every Sunday morning. There is always plenty for everyone, with everything ranging from locally grown tomatoes and berries to freshly made artisan bread and pastries. Don’t forget your reusable bags!
- Head over to North Sydney Olympic Pool on Fridays during summertime to enjoy swimming or taking part in aqua aerobics classes (at no cost!), as well as water polo, yoga, and other fitness activities when they’re offered year-round.
- Check out the Smithfield Community Library, which is open every Saturday morning from 11 am to 12 pm. There are different activities each week so be sure to check out their schedule online before you go.
- Visit one of the many local shops in North Sydney (like on Sydney St) for some retail therapy! On Saturdays there’s a farmers market right near The Old Convent and if that isn’t enough, on Sundays come down early to find your favourite Vintage Clothing sellers at Retro Fashion Markets Darlinghurst – it’s Australia’s largest vintage-focused shopping event.
- Get outdoors with friends or family by checking out Lakeside Park during any time of year but especially during winter when they have an ice skating rink set up! This place is also perfect for picnics during any season.
- Bring your dog to the off-leash area at Smithfield Park, which is open daily from sunrise till sunset! You’ll find plenty of space and everything you need to provide fresh water for Fido as well as a few benches if he needs some rest.
- Ride your bike on trails that wind through forested areas and past historic farmlands.
