Top Places to Visit Near Waverley, NSW

Waverley, NSW is a neighborhood of Randwick, NSW. It has a population of about 4,000 people and it’s mostly residential. If you’re looking for places to visit near Waverley, here are some suggestions!

  • Luna Park: The first stop on your list should be Luna Park in Milsons Point. This amusement park was opened back in 1912 by Mr Edward Hamlin and his partner-in-crime John Miller. A fun day out with all the family awaits at this iconic Sydney attraction!
  • Taronga Zoo: This zoo is located on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour and is home to many different native Australian animals such as kangaroos or koalas. The best time to visit this zoo is during the evening when it’s open until 22:00.
  • Fairy Bower Reserve and Botanic Garden: You can’t miss Fairy Bower with its long white sandstone cliffs! A great place for picnics, views of Sydney Harbour or even walking your dog, you’ll find all sorts at this reserve which has a number of different trails through native bushland.
  • Sydney Opera House: This iconic building was designed by Jorn Utzon in 1959 and opened in 1973 after he left due to disagreements over money. It seats up to 2000 people so not only does it make an impressive addition to the harbour but also plays host to many concerts from around Australia on any given day.

Manly Beach: This beach has a really long boardwalk that’s popular for joggers, runners and rollerbladers who want to keep fit. There are also plenty of cafes situated on the walk which is open until late evening so you can fuel up before or after your workout!
  • Phillip Island: Known as Australia’s island playground, this small farming community offers both culture and wildlife in one place. It’s an easy day out with several wineries around the area – just make sure you bring some food along too otherwise there won’t be anywhere to eat (there aren’t many restaurants nearby!).
  • Sydney Cricket Ground: A visit to Sydney without seeing a game at the SCG? Unthinkable! Home to the Sydney Blues, this stadium is also used for rugby and other sports. It’s a great place to see some international cricket so if you’re into that kind of thing then make sure you check it out!
  • Sydney Olympic Park: This was originally built as an athlete’s village during the 2000 Olympics but has now become a highlight in Sydney with its iconic architecture, sporting grounds and residential buildings. There are plenty of bike paths around providing easy access to many places like Darling Harbour or Luna park in Waverly.
